General Background Distribution efficiency is essential in logistics because route planning determines travel distance, transportation cost, vehicle utilization, and delivery performance. Specific Background A woven bag manufacturer still used experience-based manual route planning, resulting in inefficient shipment routes, high travel distance, multiple daily trips, and unnecessary distribution expenses. Knowledge Gap Previous route optimization studies have often used simplified simulations, while practical implementation of Ant Colony Optimization in real industrial woven bag distribution remains limited, particularly when distance, transport cost, and vehicle capacity are considered simultaneously. Aims This study determines optimal woven bag distribution routes using the Ant Colony Optimization method within a Vehicle Routing Problem framework. Results The analysis used agent locations, distance matrices, average daily demand, initial routes, vehicle capacity, and transportation cost data. The initial distribution condition required 288 km of total travel distance, 4 daily trips, and Rp3,912,000 in transportation cost. After optimization using Ant Colony Optimization, the route distance decreased to 234 km, the number of trips decreased to 3, and transportation cost decreased to Rp3,084,000. These results indicate a distance reduction of 54 km or 18.75% and cost savings of Rp828,000 or 21.17%. Novelty This study applies Ant Colony Optimization to real woven bag distribution by integrating distance, cost, demand, and vehicle capacity constraints. Implications The proposed routing model can support logistics decision-making, reduce operational expenditure, and improve distribution efficiency in manufacturing supply chains.
